Farmhouse, probably C17, with a later extension. Coursed sandstone rubble
with quoins, slate roof with a chimney at junction of roofs and another at
right gable. Originally 2 bays, (with outshut to rear of 2nd bay) now
3 bays, the 1st being an addition of late C18 or early C19. Two storeys,
original main entrance in left end wall now within front doorway to added
bay; another door in right end wall; to front wall at ground floor a
3-light sliding sash window with a hoodmould and a long 4-light window with
flush mullions (possibly a loomshop window), and at 1st floor two 3-light
casements. At the rear the outshut has at ground floor two stone mullioned
windows under one hoodmould, of 2 and 3 lights, with chamfered mullions;
and at 1st floor a top hung casement in a chamfered stone case. Interior:
partition wall to 2nd and 3rd bays is timber framed to full height; posts
and rails of similar partition in outshut also remain, and chamfered beams
in both 2nd and 3rd bays; contemporary dog leg staircase in outshut, lacking
balusters. Barn at east end of farmyard (not included) has square datestone
lettered in relief: C which may date the house.
