Terrace of 7 cottages. 1938. By FWB Yorke and FRS Yorke. Buff brick with end wall of coursed squared stone; single-pitch asbestos tile roof with brick stacks. Gable facing, front to left. 2 storeys; 18-window range, with higher 3-window range to left end. Wide bracketed eaves. Entrances have flat canopies over half-glazed doors, entries with canopies over plank doors; entrance to right end, others in pairs flanking hatches; entries in pairs flanking pairs of windows with 2-light casements; left end has window, entry and entrance. 1st floor has windows with 2-light casements in pairs, those over ground-floor windows have single-light windows over entries. Rear has wide bracketed upward-slanting eaves and spur walls between houses. French windows and 2-light casements; 1st floor has horizontally sliding sashes. French windows originally had wooden pergola-like structures. INTERIOR: open-plan living/dining area with separate kitchen. Terrace has a path and small terraces to front, gardens to rear and an allotment on adjoining plot. The terrace was built for Flower's Brewery workers. The forerunner of a type of house design common in the 1960s and therefore an early example. (Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Warwickshire: London: 1966-: 420).
