School now house and school masters' houses. Datestone 1828. Squared coursed
lias with slate roof. Originally a one-unit school with a 2-unit schoolmaster's
house attached. 2 storeys. North elevation of 4-window range. 3 windows to left
have C19 cast iron, arch head with centre pivot and glazing bars, all with brick
dressings. One C19 casement with wood lintel to right. C20 garage door to left
of centre and C20 door under wood lintel to right of centre. Ashlar gable
parapets and brick stacks at ridge and ends. Similar arch head windows to rear
Later C19 brick and stone extension to rear also has arch head windows.
Inscribed tablet at rear of The Old School. "Walgrave and Hannington National
Schools, Erected 1828, Sir James Langham Bart, Patron Rev'd Rich'd Pretyman,
Rector".
