Pair of attached houses. c1845. Limestone ashlar with party
wall stacks and a slate hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Loose
Italianate style. Each of 3 storeys, basement and attic;
2-window range. A composed front has the centre broken forward
with side brackets to an attic storey, banded ground floor,
articulated by giant channelled pilasters to volute capitals,
an entablature, cornice and parapet. Single-storey side
entrance porches, with pilasters to an entablature, and double
3-panel doors. Tripartite windows with architraves and moulded
cills, first-floor stone balconies, to 6/6-pane flanked by
2/2-pane sashes, and smaller second-floor windows with
4/4-pane flanked by 2/2-pane sashes. 3/3-pane attic sashes set
in shallow recesses. The sides have semicircular-arched stair
lights. INTERIOR not inspected, but noted as having side
dogleg stairs, panelled doors and shutters, and cornices.
