House, now school. Mid C19. Rendered, with Bath stone ashlar
dressings, brick, offset gable-end stacks and a double-pile
roof with fishscale slates. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys;
3-window range, with a single storey; one-window range left
extension.
A large, central porch with battered sides, with a
Tudor-arched door with wide splayed reveals, a hood and a
glazed door and to the sides, deep Tudor-arched windows with
narrow lights. On the right a ground-floor bay of 3 lights
with casement windows with horizontal bars. The remaining
windows are 3- and 4-light casements, with drip hoodmoulds. At
the rear, a full-height bay on the left with decorative
glazing bars, a tall central stair light, and a first-floor
oriel window on moulded brackets.
INTERIOR: wide hall with a stone and encaustic tile floor and
panelled walls, and a rear open-well stair case with
barleysugar banisters, in groups of four at the newels, a
panelled soffit, a 3-bay screen at the top of the stairs, and
a moulded frieze and ceiling rose above. In the extension is a
reset early C18 oak dogleg stair with heavy square newel posts
with pendant pyramids, and square, moulded balusters.
