Former barn, now house and outbuildings. Late C18, converted
early C19, with later alteration and extension; outbuildings
early C19 with C20 alteration. Late C18 and early C19 parts of
orange-red brick in English garden wall bond, outbuildings
partly whitewashed; house extension in pink and cream mottled
brick in English garden wall bond. Pantile roofs, with stone
coped gables and shaped kneelers to house; left end of
outbuilding hipped.
House: Castlegate front. 2 storeys 2 bays. Half-glazed door
beneath divided overlight to right of 16-pane sash with stone
sill, both with painted flat arches of gauged brick with
triple keyblocks.
Garden front: 2-storey 1-window range to left of 1-storey
1-window gable wall. Range to left has extruded brick stack
towards left end; 12-pane staircase sash with timber lintel
beneath row of blocked ventilation slits; S-shaped tie rod
ends. Gable wall has glazed door on ground floor, and 12-pane
sash with painted stone sill on first floor, both with flat
arches.
Rear: 16-pane ground floor sash, and two 12-pane sashes on
first floor, all with timber lintels.
Outbuildings: 2-storey 5-bay front, with 1-storey pent
extension to right. Left end bay blank. Board stable door
beneath segmental arch in second bay from left; C20 garage
door inserted further right, between segment-arched glazed
window and blocked window with timber lintel, both with
painted sills. On first floor, board lifting door towards
right end, and shuttered square openings elsewhere, all with
painted sills. Dentilled eaves course. Board double doors
beneath timber lintel to extension.
