Terrace of six shops. c1847. Possibly by Walter Scott.

Ashlar-faced with Welsh slate roof. Three storeys and attic, 14-window range. Italianate style. Curved corner stressed by pilasters links to Nos 1-11, Cross Street and 128, Chester Street (q.v.). Five late C19 shop fronts, those to Nos. 94-98 with shallow canted bay windows. Upper windows are 12-pane sashes with entablatures carried on console brackets to first floor, and on rosette corbels to second storey. Moulded cornice, then six-pane sash windows to attic. Tripartite windows in corner bay which has modillion eaves cornice. Axial stacks. The range formed part of the Market Cross development carried out by Walter Scott as a shopping centre and completed in 1847.
