Newton Cottage and Crescent Cottage

GV II

Pair of houses in row. Late C18. Flemish brickwork, tiled
roof, brick stacks.
3 storeys and basement, 1+1-windowed. 6-paned sashes at first
and second floors, perhaps originally 16-paned, to wide
splayed v-joint voussoirs with central key to cornice, and
16-pane to ground floor, grille to basement, right. Central
wide 6-panel fielded door in shouldered moulded architrave
under fluted frieze to swept ends and closed pediment. A full
width 'fascia' runs across the ground floor at lintel height.
Large stacks to gable ends of transverse roof behind coped
parapet. Gabled wing in 2 storeys back left.
INTERIOR not inspected, but low floor-to-floor heights suggest
possibility of earlier fabric within.
