House and 3 shops. C16 origin but mid C19 exterior. Stuccoed on front elevation,
painted brick to north elevation, slate roof. 2 storeys 5 window. Mainly 12 pane
sashes to 1st floor and 16 pane sashes to ground floor 2 early C20 shopfronts built
out at front. H J Box (Butchers) is an infill building of 1 storey stuccoed with
tiled roof marked 1852 with double butchers shop front. The northerly one has large
sashes with horns and scrolled wrought iron cresting to flat roof. Door between
the shop windows with 2 glass panels. No 40 has some framing visible internally,
comprising jowled post and cambered tie beam with 1 arched brace with deep moulded
and part of wall plate.
