Re-erected door surround. Early-mid C17, resited C19. Limestone architrave
and aedicule set within brick panel. Bolection-moulded architrave infilled
with brickwork and flanked by panelled pilasters with plinth blocks and acanthus-
carved consoles. Heavy, moulded, segmental pediment with springers breaking
forward.
Important relic associated with the College of Jesus buildings (College Street,
q.v.) but which must date from their conversion into a mansion in the C17. An
early illustration shows this doorway as one of a pair set within a ruin (Guest,
opp. p16).
