Mile post. Dated 1837. Cast iron. Fluted flat post now
partly buried. . Segmental-headed rectangular plate with
cresting. Lettering reads "LANGTREE/2 MILES TO WIGAN/6 MILES
TO CHORLEY /15 MILES TO PRESTON / (1837) " . The railway bridge was
built in 1837 and this may be an example of a railway company road
improvement.
