SY 39 NE WHITCHURCH CANONICORUM WHITCHURCH VILLAGE

2/183 Orchards

G.V. II

Single house. Circa mid-C18. Red brick walls in English bond, with open
lozenge and heart motifs in burnt headers. Thatch roof with gable ends.
Brick stacks, mainly original at left and right gables. 2 storeys. 3 windows,
wooden casements (2 light) with horizontal, glazing bars. Gauged brick heads
with projecting stone keys. Wooden cills. Front door at centre, 6-panelled
with top 2 of glass, C18. Porch with glass-panelled door and side-windows.
Hipped thatch roof over, C20. House stands on a rubble-stone base. Extension
at right-hand end: brick with slate roof, c 1900. Bayed-out extension at
north west corner, c 1900.
