TG 41 NE SOMERTON EAST SOMERTON

2/43 Garden walls at Burnley
Hall including icehouse

Garden walls enclosing garden on all sides. East side returns to house and
contains, with access to kitchen yard, an icehouse. Early C18. Brick, except
south side which is of whole flints. Exterior has plinth course and brick
piers running up to cornice. Rounded coping bricks. Interior is plain and
coping bricks are flat. South range also with coping bricks. Icehouse entered
through plain door in east wall. Arched tunnel slopes downward to tapering
circular chamber with domed roof. Over inner lintel a plaque : J.B.H. 1818
(J.B. Huntington).
