House, formerly "The Fox" public house. Mid-C18 with some earlier remains
and C20 alterations. Limestone rubble with stone slate roof. Two storeys.
No 91, at the left, has a storey band. On the ground floor is a canted bay
window on a stone base, with a stone slated canopy which extends over the
doorway to its right. On the first floor are two windows with plain reveals.
To the right is a yard entrance below a first floor link to No 89. This is
hung with stone slates and has a C20 casement window. No 89 has two canted
bay windows on stone bases on the ground floor, and a C20 casement window with
plain reveals on the first floor. The wall is rendered below the eaves,
suggesting that the roof may have been raised. Gables coped. Chimneys on
left-hand gable and to right of yard entrance. The left-hand (east) wall
of No 89, facing the yard, has a doorway of C17 type, with chamfered surround
and canted head. Included for group value.
