11/53 Grange Farmhouse

II


House, c.1700, reusing C15 ashlar, altered C19 and C20. Red
brick with ashlar quoins and plinth, slate roof, raised and
tumbled brick coped gables, 2 brick gable stacks. L-plan. 2
storey, 5 bay front with first floor band and corbelled out
eaves. Central 6 panel door with plain overlight, covered by C20
flat hood on wooden brackets, flanked by pairs of glazing bar
windows with cambered brick arched heads. To first floor are 4
two light casements with to the right a blocked opening with
reset C15 panel with cusped surround and shield. Also C15 are
the carved stones now reused as kneelers. The 2 brick bands are
continued across the gable walls and there is an outshut to the
rear.
