ST 77 NE TORMARTON C.P. ACTON TURVILLE ROAD (south side)

Turnpike toll house, now house. Early C19 with C20 alterations. Coursed
squared limestone rubble, stone dressings, hipped sprocketed stone tiled roof with
ashlar stack, double Roman tiled lean-to. North front 3-sided, 2 storeys and
2 windows, all 2-light casements with flat mullions, plain stone surround and
leaded lights, central bay has gabled porch with raised coped verges and kneelers,
plain door. Single storey lean-to to left and right, 2-light wooden casement to
right and C20 door to left, rear has half-hipped gable end, single light casement
as on front, C20 flat-roofed single storey extension. Interior: not inspected.
