House. 1936. Built by Crowe and Careless for R.H. Stein. Rendered probably
concrete steel frame.
Plan: Built close to cliff edge with extensive views out to sea. Entrance through
small lobby with stair directly to rear. Kitchen in service range on left and 2
principal rooms to right and rear. The right hand room is in a single storey range,
surrounded by windows.
International Modern Style.
Exterior: 1,2, and 3 storeys; single storey range containing principal room projects
forward with 2-storey main range and 3 storey service block and stair tower to rear.
The metal-framed windows to the single storey range continue around the curved
corners on 3 sides. Directly to rear the left hand corner of the main range is
glazed and the right hand corner forms an integral verandah looking out to sea. The
first floor windows are arranged on the corners and to right of centre.
Interior: Simple detailing with probably renewed tiled chimney-piece.
