Houses, now shops. C17, altered early C18. Stuccoed brick and
timber-frame; tile roof. Double-depth plan. Georgian style.
EXTERIOR: C20 shopfronts to ground floor, that to left
continued to left (No.35A, qv), that to right returned to
Salter Street. Platt bands between floors and top modillioned
cornice; quoin strips. 1st floor has windows with sashes, 3 to
left are taller, cutting platt band, with 4-pane horned
sashes, 2 plate glass sashes to right; 2nd floor has 4-paned
horned sashes. 2-window return to Salter Street. Rear has 2
gabled wings.
INTERIOR: dragon beam and bresummers survive above ground
floor ceiling. No.36 has 1st-floor front room with panelling,
some early C17 with moulded rails and stiles, some C18 with
square panels; some fluted and cabled pilasters with enriched
heads, probably C17; plaster cornice. No.37 has open well
stair with square newels, column-on-vase balusters boarded in
or removed.
