C1820-30 early semi-detached pair of Calthorpe Estate small scale villas.
Symmetrical composition 2 storeys stucco faced with 4 bay main block and
set back 2 storey one bay wings. Plinth and first floor sill band returned
to wings. Hipped slate roof to main block with flat eaves on shallow
brackets and plain stucco frieze below; central stucco chimney stacks.
Wings have gabled fronts. Revealed sash windows, 4 x 4 panes to centre but
3 x 4 panes over doorway in outer bays. The ground floor windows have feature
of crisply moulded blind semi-circular arches containing scroll and anthemion
motif. Broad engaged Tuscan column doorways with full entablatures approached
by 2 steps. Doors of 6 fielded panels recessed for one round arched order in
panelled reveals, fanlights with marginal and curvilinear glazing pattern.
The glazing bar sash windows to wings have slightly cambered heads the ground
floor of the wing to No 77 incorporates gig house.
