House. Later C17 timber frame, but probably C16 origin. 1911
imitation Tudor alterations. L plan group, original house N-S
with much imitation half-timbering. Pargetting, painted brick
and plaster, old tile roof. Half-timbering to 1st floor of W and
E elevations. W side has corner stair turret with pyramid roof
and top belfry. 2 half-timbered gables,that on S over door
dated 1911. Ground floor, pent roof cloister and lean-to
extension on N. Leaded casements. Tall, red brick, later C17,
chimneystack with multiple diagonal shafts and moulded upper
courses towards S. Smaller similar stack on N. E elevation has
3 projecting gable ends, end ones with jettied upper floors,
centre one with bracketed square casement oriel. Mullioned and
transomed casements. W leg of L is early C20, pargetted, with
projecting gable end on garden front. Imitation C17
chimneystacks. Interior of N-S block has Elizabethan panelling
taken from Patmore Hall, 1862, and exposed C17 floor beams and
joists. Ground floor N room has fireplace with chamfered, 4-
centre arch surround of later C17. (RCHM Typescript).
