Photographed 6 June 2024.
I was fortunate on my visit to meet the owner of the properties which she inherited from her grandfather, a butcher with premises in Market Street. The buildings had been stables used by horses overnight during markets in the town. Also, grooms lived over as horses were required for people who needed a carriage to take them out to dinner in Ludlow's finest restaurant at The Feathers. Perhaps that explains why the cottage partly visible to the right of the photograph is named “Grooms’ Cottage”.
