Workshop at Brook House

Forge and workshop. Late C18. 4 bays, clay lump, rendered
building with gabled pantiled roof, facing E. Brick and flint
base extending to S where other buildings have been demolished.
Modern timberframed weatherboarded end wall on S. Former forge
in S bay, surrounded by exposed clay lump walls and blackened
inside. Large boarded double doors in 2nd bay from S leading
into lofty wheelwright's shop with large glazed and ventilated
screen on E. Rear window in 2nd bay may mark former rear doors.
Roof structure reconstructed in C19. Of social and technological
interest and of special interest for clay lump construction, also
used in Brook House, of which it is an outhouse.
