GV II

Public house. Probably C18, with later additions to rear, now
incorporating part of former cottage to left, and much
altered. White-painted roughcast probably on brick, with stone
slate roofs. Irregular plan including former single-depth
2-bay front range woth one bay of cottage to left and various
additions to rear. Two storeys, 1+3 windows. The principal
element is almost symmetrical, with an altered doorway in the
centre, an inserted 2-light casement above that, 2 low 5-light
casements at ground floor, 2 segmental-headed 3-light
casements at 1st floor, and gable chimneys (and a broad
signboard between the floors). The former cottage to the left
is 2 low storeys with one 3-light casement on each floor, the
upper segmental-headed. To the rear of the main range is a
taller and deeper addition, and to the rear of that an altered
and enlarged rear wing. INTERIOR: remodelled, but the front
range has remains of some original beams. Included for group
value.
