Barn. C16. Tall 5-bays, facing E with central projecting
porch. Timber frame weatherboarded with steep pitched roof half-
hipped at ends. Formerly thatched but now covered in corrugated
iron painted black. Double doors in central bay on W opposite
doors in porch. Fine carpentry structure with chamfered arrises
to main members. Heavy stepped jowl to each post. Tension
braces in walls. Very long curved braces to tie beams. Single
butt-purlin to each roofslope between hevy trusses with long
curved queen struts but no collar. Long curved wind braces to
purlin. Heavy knee braces to W doorway. Building used by
Airforce during war who added brickwork in lower parts of wall,
and 2 large dormers in W roofslope.
