House, now school. Late C18. Red brick with old tile roof and 4 stacks. Moulded brick cornice, parapet with stone coping, and 3 central triangular pedimented dormers. 2 storeys and attic. 1:3:1 bays; glazing bar sashes. First and fifth bays projecting with centre part broken forward and carried up above parapet to thermal windows and triangular pediments in attic. Ground floor windows of wings in arched recesses. Projecting central porch with 4 possibly re-used Corinthian stone columns and entablature. Door with fanlight and pilasters flanked by narrow arched windows. 2 storey, 8 bay addition of c.1900 to left in similar style. East front: recessed central bay with arched first floor window and wrought iron balcony. Canted bays to left and right rising to parapet. Central porch with 4 Greek Doric columns and panelled door. North front: 2:1:1:1:2 bays. Roof hipped forward over 2 projecting bays to left and right. Central bay projecting with triangular pediment and blank circular opening in tympanum. Triple ogee headed Gothick first floor windows extending to ground level. Interior: front hall has heavily moulded panelled ceiling and frieze. Southern door with pilasters and semi-circular fanlight with scrolled keystone. Door to north with architrave, entablature and broken triangular pediment. Other good doorcases to east and west. Fireplace with heavily moulded overmantel. Ground floor room to south with shafted triple ogee headed Gothick windows. Good fireplaces in first floor rooms. B.O.E.Berkshire p.114.
