House. C17 and C18. Timber framed with brick refacing, and old tile roof.
End stack to right and panelled stack on ridge off-centre to left. Gable to
left with blank window and raised brick band carried across foot, and gabled
cross wing to right. 2 storeys. 4 ground floor and 4 first floor windows;
all casements, some with leaded lights. Blocked window above door to left.
Doorways with gabled porches to right of first window from left and to left
of first window from right. Doorway to left has moulded surround and boarded
door with good contemporary fittings, including hinges, studs, bolts and
latch. Rear has some exposed timber framing, doorway with moulded surround
and projecting staircase block to right. Interior: good moulded beams, door
surrounds and fireplaces. C17 staircase with ball finial to newel post. Good
example of small Berkshire house of the period; exceptional for the survival
of interior fittings.
