ST MICHAEL PENKIVEL,
MALPAS POINT,
The Ferryhouse

(Formerly listed as Cottage at SW 847 426 SW)

GV II

House, once ferryman's house, and at one time a pair of cottages. Probably a
Cl9 remodelling of an earlier building. Painted slatestone rubble walls,
scantle slate roof with gable ends and axial brick stack with pair of diagonally
set brick shafts. Each cottage has 2-room, double depth plan. 2 storeys. 4-
window north front. Ground floor has door, window, window and door. Ground
floor windows are 3-light casements with glazing bars. 1st floor 2-light case-
ments have 12 panes per casement and appear to be C19. All openings have cam-
bered brick arches. South front similar. Interior not inspected. Important
scenic position on a wooded spur of land opposite Malpas Village. Included for
group value.
