A sight not seen since 1992 when the light became fully automatic, with only visits, by helicopter, for maintenance. It used to be a great selling point for boat-trips out to the lighthouse especially when a trip could coincide with the relief, which before the helicopter pad was added in the 1970s would be by breeches buoy from one of the launches.
