Description

TOTLAND

SZ38NW ALUM BAY OLD ROAD
1354-0/4/285 2 Limekilns

II

Limekilns. C19. Beehive shaped kilns, the lower part of stone
rubble the upper domed part of cement. Round-headed brick
entrances cemented over, with doors missing. Height of door is
about 2 feet 6 inches and height of dome about 8 feet. There
is some mystery about the use of these buildings, but as they
are in the wrong location for icehouses, limekilns seem the
most probably explanation.
