The Greyhound Coaching Inn
GV II

Former house with shop, now part of The Greyhound Coaching
Inn. Late C17, altered in C19 and modernised in l989-90, but
retaining most of its historic fabric. Timber-framed with
brick cladding; Welsh slate roof. 2-unit plan with roughly
contemporary rear service wing forming an L-shape overall. 2
storeys; red brick end stacks. Front a C19 re-facing: 2-window
range. 1st floor 3-light casements under gable dormers; brick
cogged eaves. Hipped pentice slate roof connects 2 unequal
window bays which flank off-centre half-glazed door. Interior:
framing largely intact with principal internal partition
(partly removed) with wattle and daub infilling. Main truss
with tie, principals set well in from the wall, and collar;
trenched side purlins. This building makes a significant
contribution to the character of this part of the townscape.
