House. Probably late C17 or early C18, enlarged and altered. Brick at ground
floor (painted white), timber-framed with brick nogging at 1st floor, red tile
roof, brick chimney. Two-unit single-depth lobby-entry plan (with modern parallel
addition to rear, which is not of special interest). Two storeys and 2 bays,
symmetrical; central doorway now covered by modern porch with hipped roof; 2
small 2-light casements on each floor, those at ground floor segmental-headed
(and all with modern shutters); timber-framing at 1st floor, which is all of light
scantling, consists of corner posts, studs, straight passing down-braces, mid-rails
and wallplate. Half-hipped roof with a square chimney stack in the centre. Both
gable walls have similar timber framing at 1st floor; the left has 2 small
windows at ground floor, and an altered 2-light casement at 1st floor; the other
has a 2-light casement at ground floor. Interior: large lateral beams in both
bays, with large joists; back-to-back fireplaces, that in the 2nd bay an inglenook
with chamfered bressummer.
