GV II

Main and two subsidiary gates and gatepiers. 1937-42 by P.D Hepworth. Main gates
with four Portland stone piers with rebated corners topped by polygonal metal
lanterns, and decorative wrought-iron gates with spindle finials; central open
work wrought iron pier with similar decorations. Wrought-iron railings. Sub-
sidiary gates with openwork wrought iron piers and gates with similar decorations.
Designed as integral part of Civic Centre.
