This was taken from the adjacent churchyard and shows the north side of the building. We can see where a large window has been infilled, and also an ecclesiastical window above. Some 30 years ago I met an elderly gentleman, the then owner of the house, and he invited me and my father into his kitchen, which was at the end on the left of the picture. He told us that the house had been built by the Knights Templar from stones quarried nearby, and that where we can seen the infilled window was a once a chapel. He used it as an apple store. He said that the house had actually been built before the adjacent Church of St Leonard. It would therefore be one of the oldest houses in the county.
