House, now public house. Late C16/early C17 extended to rear in C19 and C20.
Timber framed, clad in whitewashed render with plain tiled roofs. Double gable
ends facing the street, two storeys to left and two storeys with attic to right.
Corbelled stack of cross-shaped section to right hand gable with further stacks
to left and rear. Wood-framed casement fenestration with one 3-light window on
each floor of left hand gable, and one on each floor to right, including attic
drip mouldings above. Door, up steps, in recess at junction of gables. Left
hand return front(facing Castle Street):- One casement window on each floor to
left, one glazing-bar sash window on each floor to right. Rear - flat roofed
extensions with balcony above not of special interest.
Interior:- Wattle and daub in roof space pargetted in reeded panels pattern.
Some sooted rafters beyond possibly indicating earlier core.
