6/88 Garden Walls to Manor House
Garden walls. Probably c1700, restored 1860. Red brick, diapered with
black brick, and rubble stone plinth in part. Brick oversailing coping.
The walls are c2 1/2m high and extend from right end of Manor House (q.v.),
border Main Street, and then turn at right angles and project to rear,
bordering track on its left side. Near the corner of Manor House a round
arched garden doorway with plank door. The wall has ramped up top above
it. To the left set in wall are 3 tiles inscribed 1475, 1690 and 1860 I.P.,
all probably of latter date. V.C.H., Vol. V.
