Shops and dwellings. Late C18/early C19 to early C17 core.
MATERIALS: brick front to timber-frame with C20 brick infill;
slate(?) roof with corrugated-asbestos and composite tiles to
rear; two C20 brick stacks to rear.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 4-window range: 6/6 sashes under gauged
brick segmental arches; 3/3 sashes over, under segmental
arches; brick modillion eaves. Central entrance to passageway
with C20 grille between grooved pilasters, and to left, early
C19 shop front with central part-glazed 2-leaf door, flanked
by 10/10 sashes, between grooved pilasters; moulded fascia
board and hood overall.
To right, C20 restored shop front with central part-glazed
door, flanked by plate glass windows with clerestory
casements, under moulded fascia board and hood. Left-hand wall
of passage displays early C19 stick framing. Right returned
side displays C20 restored framing, with jowled post and heavy
passing-braces.
Mutilated wing to rear with shallow pitched
corrugated-asbestos roof. C20 fenestration to rear. Gas lamp.
INTERIOR: No.30: C19 winder staircase with stick balusters, to
2nd floor. 2nd floor: 2-panel doors; C19 fireplace. 1st floor:
2-panel door; 6-panel door; C19 fireplace; architraves. Ground
floor: exposed timber-framing. Cellar: stone stack base and
lining; plank door. No.31: 1st floor: architraves to windows.
Ground floor: ogee stop chamfered ceiling-beam. Cellar: C19
firegrate, under oak lintel.
