Guide post at junction with Squires Lane

Guide post. Early C19. Dressed granite monolith with pyramidal
head, painted to upper part. Triangular-on-plan front. 2
inscribed faces. Left-hand face reads: PENROSE/ PORTHLEVEN/
HELSTON. Right-hand face reads: SITHNEY. Under each name is an
incised hand pointer; each pointer underlined: resembling
turned scroll spindles on the left and a squat diamond on the
right. A fine and rare example of its type.
