Outbuilding to Thetford Priory, now a store. Mid C15. 3-bay
portion to west is timber-framed and weatherboarded, the rear
(south) side formerly jettied. Partly clad mid C19 in flint
rubble with brick dressings. Remainder to east later C15 and
now entirely of C19 flint and brick. Corrugated asbestos roof.
2 storeys. North front with 3 late C20 casements and three C20
doors. 4 honeycomb ventilation panels below 5 louvred
first-floor windows. Rear (south) broadly similar but less
disturbed by C20 fenestration. Gabled roof.
INTERIOR: timber-framed building with principal room on first
floor. Jowled principal studs to south with mortices for
soffit bracing to jetty every 4th stud. Shutter grooves for 3
former mullioned windows. First floor with 2 crown posts of
square section and with moulded capitals and bases. Arched
braces to crown purlin and to collars. Additional arched brace
from tie beam is morticed into collar brace. 4-bay later
extension to east with crown post roof consisting of re-used
posts with arched braces to crown purlins only. Arched braces
from tie beams to wall posts. 2 of the crown posts and ties
have been partly chopped away.
