Terraced houses. 1836-43. Built by T.Pearson. Yellow brick set
in Flemish bond except no 8 which is of brown brick and
presumably rebuilt, stucco, roofs of nos 2 and 4 of slate.
Symmetrical terrace with projecting end wings (nos 2 and 8).
Three storeys over basement, two windows each. Basement and
ground floor stuccoed, ground floor decorated with banded
rustication. Steps up to elliptical-arched entrance with
pilasters supporting cornice, fanlight above with decorative
glazing bars, panelled doors of original design. All windows
flat-arched, those to upper floors having gauged brick heads;
6/6 sashes of original design to nos 2 and 4 and ground floors
of nos 6 and 8. Stucco band between ground and first floors;
narrow recesssed round-arched panel between nos 4 and 6 at
first- and second-floor level; stucco cornice and blocking
course, nos 2 and 4 having two dormers each in mansard roof;
party walls project, carrying stacks. All houses considerably
rebuilt and extended at the rear. Cast-iron railings to steps
and area with spearhead and foliated finials.
