GV II

Terraced houses. Early C19. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond,
stucco, roof of Welsh or artificial slate where visible. Three
storeys over basement, some houses with dormers in roof, two
windows each; nos 210-2 set slightly forward as a centrepiece.
Basement and ground floor stuccoed, ground floor decorated
with banded rustication. Steps up to segmental-arched entrance
with pilasters and fanlight with decorative glazing;
ground-floor window segmental-arched; stucco terminates at
sill band; upper floors have flat-arched windows with heads of
gauged brick, those to the first floor having balconies, those
to nos 110-12 bracketed with cast-iron railings, the rest
individual cast-iron balconies except for nos 202-4 which are
missing; parapets and cornices much rebuilt; stacks to party
walls.
Features of individual houses are: no 202 has two flat-arched
dormers in mansard roof; no 204 has sashes of original design,
stucco cornice and blocking course; nos 206-8 have parapets,
and no 208 lacks decorative glazing to fanlight; the upper
storeys of nos 210-12 almost entirely rebuilt, and two
flat-arched dormers in roof; no 214 has sashes of original
desgin to ground and first floor, and stucco cornice and
blocking course; no 216 lacks decorative glazing to fanlight,
and has stucco cornice and blocking course; no 218 has sashes
of original design to ground floor, and stuccoed parapet; no
220 has segmental-arched entrance in single-storey porch to
left-hand return, with panelled door of original design.
Cast-iron railings to steps and area, in many cases to
replacement designs.
