House, including boundary wall. C18 and early C19.
Timber-framed with rendered front, gabled clay peg tile roof.
2 storeys with attics and cellars, later monopitched 2-storey
rear extension in black weatherboarding. Front has plain
parapet, hipped clay peg tile roofed dormer with small paned
double-hung sash window. First floor has one double-hung sash
with small panes and moulded surround. Ground floor, one
similar double-hung sash and plain C20 door surround and
6-panelled door. Stack on ridge at NW gable.
INTERIOR: tight dogleg stair with C19 handrail and reeded
early C19 fire surround with moulded mantelshelf in front
ground-floor room. Roof has fully framed side purlins. Former
gable profile of No.8 (qv) is exposed in attic with woolcomb
pargeting. Some septaria walling in cellar and
semicircular-headed arched niche. Fragment of septaria walling
in rear yard possible former town wall.
