Two houses, now offices. Mid C18, No.3 with later alterations.
Brick; tile roofs, hipped to left end, with brick end stacks.
L-plan. 3 storeys; 2-window range. Modillioned brick cornice.
No.1 has segmental-headed entrance with C20 door to right of
C19 shop window with cornice and 6-pane fixed glazing;
segmental-headed 1st floor window and 2nd floor window have
3-light small-paned casement. No.3 has entrance with
pilasters, frieze and cornice, and 6-fielded-panel door, to
right of large window with rubbed brick flat arch and C20
small-paned casement, similar windows to 1st and 2nd floor,
that to 1st floor with C20 brick lintel. Left end has C19 sign
with pointing hand and lettering: TO BURTON & DERBY. Left
return to George Lane has shop window and 3-light casement to
each floor to left. Rear gabled wing. INTERIOR has chamfered
beams. An important contribution to the street.
