Vicarage, now house, 1878-9 for Church Commissioners (Rev. Edmeads)
by George Gilbert Scott Jnr. Red brick with blue brick panels,
tiled roof. Two-storey and attics, 6 x 2 bays comprising central 2
bays with nearly flush 2-bay wings. Originally rear service wing
on left, returning as laundry, latter only remains as garage.
Parish room added to original design, also demolished. Early Queen
Anne revival style. Door in side elevation in recessed porch.
Five-panel door with round fanlight. Eight-pane sashes with
moulded brick pediments over gauged lintels. Gables to wings
slightly Flemish shaped, and residual capitals and dentilled eaves
to centre bays. Centre bays have canted bay on ground floor added
to original scheme, shaped parapet rebuilt straight. Central
hipped dormer and roof hipped. Symmetrical chimneys with raised
blue brick cross decoration. Contract cost £2,330, increased to
£2,758,15.2d by additions at final account.
Interior: Internal stair hall lit from large rear hipped dormer.
