1/95 The Kennels
at the Keepers

GV II

Kennels. Early C19. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. Single storey.
Fronts rear yard of The Keepers cottage (q.v.). 5 evenly-spaced doorways
having monolithic lintels, wooden door frames and ventilated overlights.
Doors have sliding central panels. Left-hand return has 2 arched windows with
projecting sills similar to the keepers (q.v.). Lower kennels attached to
right, set back, have 3 arched doorways and lean-to roof against boundary wall
to rear.
The larger kennels were used by gun-dogs (labradors and retrievers) and the
lower kennels for terriers.

Interior: one rear room has fireplace with chimney crane formerly for heating
pheasant feed.
