Where the observer is standing, the Jacobean north wing stood. It was connected to the older building you see by doorways converted from what were once window openings. The west end of the Cistercian Abbey Church may have extended as far as here in the 14th century. Most of the monastery buildings were demolished in the 1670s so a country house could be built on the site. (Photo Mar 2016).
