Walls to entrance courtyard including turrets and bridge on east side.
Walls and turrets early C18, bridge late C19. Rubble stone,some brick
dressings to turrets and slate roofs, bridge of dressed stone. To south of
Palace House (qv) is courtyard surrounded by walls above moat running from
east and west corners of house, with C19 stone bridge on east wall, turrets
on corners, and gateway, to causeway, in south wall. Walls are 3m high
from bottom of moat, on other side they are lm high above raised walkway.
Turrets circular with conical roof and doorway. Bridge has 2 pointed
arches and offset parapet with chamfered coping. Gateway has 2
square-section piers with pair of wrought iron gates.
