attached to E face of
Avington House,
facing S.

Pair of conservatories with orangery between, incorporating part of C17
Banqueting Hall. C18, early and mid C19. Brick walls behind conservatory
with linking wall on reused C17 rendered columns, cast iron and glazed
conservatories. Along centre line of rear wing , wall, supported in centre
half on re-used C17 colonnade. Originally each side of this was curved
cast iron and glass roof resting on painted brick rear wall and to front on
cast iron and glass screen which linked to conservatories at each end. This
front part was removed early C20. The end quarters of central wall form rear
wall of domed 5-sided cast iron and glass conservatories which have round-headed
glazing pattern on each face with french windows in centre at front and 2-tier
dome above.
