adjacent farmbuilding
II
House with cottage to left, now one dwelling, and farm building adjacent to
cottage. Mainly c.1730 incorporating masonry of c.1600 and late C17, restored
c.1980. Rubble with stone dressings; stone slate roofs to house and cottage,
C20 metal roof to farm building. House 2 storeys, 2 wide bays. Central boarded
door flanked by former 2-light mullioned windows, that to left restored. Similar
windows to 1st floor flank central narrow window in chamfered surround. Cottage
to left 3 storeys, 2 bays. External stone stair over ground-floor door with
small loop to left, to central lst-floor door flanked by former 2-light windows;
smaller windows in chamfered surrounds to 2nd floor. Rear elevation shows
boarded door to byre. Farm building to left of cottage incorporates earlier
fabric, probably of bastle house and is included for group value. Single-storey
extension to right of house not of interest.
