14/33 Elwood House

II

House. Late C18 with C19 and C20 additions. Ashlar facade with plinth, rubble
elsewhere. Lakeland slate roof. 2 storeys. Main block has rusticated quoins
and symmetrical 3-bay facade. 2 semicircular steps up to 6-panelled door in
pedimented entablature with fluted and paterae frieze. Flanking 2-storey shallow
canted bays with 12-pane sashes. Ground and first floor sill bands. Mid C20
lower 1-bay addition to left and rear has small-paned sashes.

Right return also projects to rear and is largely early C19. Square stone C19
porch to rear.

Gabled roof with kneelers and flat coping, and 2 stone end stacks.

Interior has late C18 staircase with slender turned newels; 6-panelled doors
and 2 fireplaces with fluted surrounds.
