Detached Toll-House. Later C19. Dressed stone walls, with ashlar Ham
stone quoins. Slate roofs with stone gable-copings, having moulded
kneelers and apex blocks. Coupled square stone stacks with moulded
cornices on main ridge, and on north-east wall. Plan: rectangular
block with projecting bays, set diagonally to side walls. Two storeys.
Irregular fenestration, made up of hollow-chamfered stone mullions with
cast-iron casements with hexagonal pattern of glazing-bars. Canted bays
to the ground floor either side of the original front doorway, 3 lights
to front and one light on the cant. 2-light windows over canted bays.
4-light window over door. Front doorway, originally, has hollow-chamfered
jambs, 4-centred head, with large label over. Plank-and-muntin door with
fitting 4-centred head, C19. The C20 extensions to the south are not of
special interest.
